The aim of co-financing research infrastructure is providing Slovenian researchers with access to state-of-the-art and larger scale infrastructure which is essential in order to reach and maintain a level of scientific development on a globally comparable scale.
Research equipment is an important part of research infrastructure for scientific and research activities. Research infrastructure refers to facilities, resources or services that encompass larger sets of research equipment or instruments. They also complement knowledge resources such as collections, archives and databases.
Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) co-finances purchases of research equipment of minimal estimated costs of 50.000 euros for Natural Sciences, at least 20.000 euros for Engineering, Biotechnical and Medical sciences and at least 15.000 euros for Humanities and Social sciences.
Large scale research equipment is funded by the ministry responsible for science since 2010 through cohesion policy programmes and mechanisms.
