The Faculty of Medicine organises two study programmes:: Medicine and Dental Medicine. Both courses are Single-cycle master degree programmes (Bologna second cycle) and last for 6 years (12 semesters).

Information on University of Ljubljana for international students
Language:
IMPORTANT: All candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of the Slovenian language at B2 level.
Both programmes are held exclusively in Slovenian language. Upon application, all candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of the Slovenian language at B2 level or above according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and provide a certificate to that effect. Information on the certificates accepted as proof of competence in the Slovenian language is given in the ‘Call for enrolment’ document.

Dental medicine
* Citizens of non-EU countries who have permanent residence in the Republic of Slovenia and are themselves or their parents residents of the Republic of Slovenia for tax purposes may also apply for vacancies for Slovenian citizens and citizens of EU Member States.
Enrollment places are also intended for persons with recognized international protection and applicants for international protection.
Application procedures information
All important information on the application and acceptance procedure is published in the ‘Call for enrolment’ (in the beginning of February for the next academic year) on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (WEBPAGE IN ENGLISH). The ‘Call for enrolment also contains information on number of places available for enrolment for Slovenian citizens and citizens of EU Member States, as well as the number of places available for citizens of other countries (in the academic year 2022/23 there are no available places for candidates coming from these countries).
With the exception of citizens of former Yugoslav republics, citizens of other countries are expected to pay tuition fees in accordance with the University of Ljubljana Price list.
The deadlines for applications are published in the ‘Call for enrolment’ and the application and acceptance procedures are conducted by the Higher Education Application and Information Service of the University of Ljubljana.

Transfer to our programme
Under certain conditions and in accordance with the terms set out in the ‘Call for enrolment’, direct entry into a higher year of study is possible if the candidate has already studied medicine or dental medicine at another faculty or university.
Transfers can be made to the 2nd or 3rd year of the Single-cycle master degree programme in Medicine and to the 2nd year of the Integrated Master’s Course in Dental Medicine. In order to enrol to the higher year of studies, the candidate must meet the Slovenian language requirements and requirements for enrolment into the first year of studies, and must have successfully completed a year of study on a programme at their original institution (60 credits) with a grade average of at least 8.5.
Places are available for candidates coming from all countries, not just for Slovenian citizens and citizens of the countries of EU.
Candidates who already have a degree
Under the terms of the ‘Call for enrolment’, graduates may also study at the faculty; however, only Slovenian citizens and citizens of EU Member States may apply for a place as a graduate. If a candidate has already attained second-level education, they are expected to pay tuition fees for study on the Medicine or Dental Medicine courses in accordance with the University of Ljubljana price list.
Tuition fee
Students, coming from the countries that are not member states of European Union are entitled to pay tuition fee according to the Price list of University of Ljubljana.
